Getting ready to start up a new D&D campaign and I'm running into a problem that I imagine a lot of DM's run in to. And that is that I have no idea which setting I want to use. My first campaign was a custom setting and while that was fine as the world was pretty much 100% malleable, it becomes a lot of work, and PAPERwork to contain everything pertinent to the campaign. How about you folks, any of you Dungeons and Dragons players have a preferred campaign setting? If so, why?
I prefer a setting the player defines, Allowing them to move freely through the world. Of course this requires a DM who can run a fluid campaign. Good luck with that!
ReplyDeletegoodluck, hope it works out for you. Liking your content. Followed.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any settings to suggest, but good luck finding one. I like your content.
ReplyDeleteI have a special place in my heart for Greyhawk, being the first one I played. Nice beholder, btw.
ReplyDeleteI loved Ravenloft, it always left me on the edge of my seat and i loved its modules

probably greyhawk for me
ReplyDeleteas a player I enjoy dungeons with lots of interesting trap mechanics. there's nothing like an ominous lever in the middle of a room, just waiting to get pulled.
ReplyDeleteNever played D&D, but I look at a friend's Forgotten Realms books and looks really cool. All that maps, descriptions of regions, etc. Seems nice to me.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, bro.
good luck dude!
ReplyDeleteI love Eberron. I own many Eberron splatbooks for 3.5 and 4th Edition. I find the Forgotten Realms a little bland, maybe because I haven't read that many books (Icewind Dale and The Dark Elf trilogies). Greyhawk is great, but there isn't too much information for 3.5 or 4th Edition, except for Living Greyhawk Gazzeteer. That's, like, 10 years without a Greyhawk splatbook? Not cool.
ReplyDeletekeep it up!

ReplyDeleteWish I could be of help, but this is not exactly my area of expertise. Interesting blog, though.

ReplyDeleteI don't play D&D, but am looking to get into game development.
ReplyDeleteI never really enjoyed D&D or RPG board-style haha
ReplyDeletePut the work into developing your own setting. I had a couple of friends who did this, it's really fun. Try it!
